ABOUT TINA
Master musician, Shinichi Suzuki once stated,
"Music ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be deve loped. The potential in every child is unlimited."
This same philosophy has been the foundation of Tina's learning, training, and teaching over the years. A native to Toronto, Tina was immersed in music from birth. At age four, she began playing piano under the careful guidance of skilled instructors Maureen McReynolds and Elizabeth Sherk at the North York Suzuki School of Music. Tina enjoyed her studies thoroughly, further developing her passion for piano. She shared her skills early on while employed with the City of Toronto and continues a most successful teaching career. As well, Tina has performed at numerous functions and recitals.
The Suzuki Method has always been of fundamental importance. Like Suzuki, Tina constantly strives to 'nurture' all her students through their music studies to develop sensitivity, patience, discipline, virtue and love. Tina stresses how environment in class, at home, and in the world at large, all play a key role in educating and developing a fine human spirit.
Tina is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She continues to develop her musical and teaching acumen by studying under the decorated Gail Lange, who is one of Canada's most experienced Suzuki piano teachers, as well as Aubrey Faith-Slaker, a acknowledged Suzuki piano teacher from Chicago, and the honourable Suzuki teacher Caroline Fraser.
Tina embodies professionalism and the many fine virtues that she desires to instil in all of her students. Like Suzuki, Tina's ultimate goal is to "educate children to become a better person, a little happier" and through music studies in her studio, help them develop a 'beautiful heart'.
